Manila: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has summoned a representative from Victory Liner Inc. to address allegations of reckless driving by one of its buses, which recently gained widespread attention on social media. This move is part of a broader investigation initiated to ensure road safety and discipline among drivers.

According to Philippines News Agency, LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II emphasized that the investigation aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to maintain order on the roads. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is currently working with the individual who posted the video of the incident on Facebook to gather more details.

In his statement, Mendoza noted a clear violation by the bus driver in the video and confirmed that the investigation aims to ascertain whether passengers were on board at the time. The driver's conduct, as highlighted by Mendoza, is under scrutiny and deemed unacceptable.

Victory Liner Inc. has been instructed to identify and present the driver for a hearing scheduled at the LTO headquarters in Quezon City on February 25. Both the bus company and the driver are required to provide a written explanation outlining why they should not be held accountable for the incident.

Mendoza also urged bus companies to actively monitor their personnel to avoid future occurrences, stressing the potential danger posed to passengers and other road users. The viral video shows the Victory Liner bus, numbered 669, overtaking a cargo truck on an expressway but dangerously veering towards the truck, compelling the truck driver to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid a crash.
