LTO Dagupan to Release Over 3.6K Motorcycle Plates on Independence Day

Dagupan: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Dagupan District Office will release over 3,600 motorcycle plates and facilitate the replacement of seven-digit motorcycle plates with six-digit ones on Thursday, a regular holiday for Independence Day. Opening the office on a holiday aims to help reduce the backlog of motorcycle plates in the district, according to LTO Dagupan District Officer Rommel Dawaton during an interview on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the decision to open the office on a holiday stems from previously low turnout on Saturdays, prompting officials to provide additional time for residents to process their plates. Motorcycle owners are advised to bring copies of their Official Receipt (OR), Certificate of Registration (CR), and a valid ID to claim their plates.

The activity is part of the agency's preparations for the stricter enforcement of the 'No Plate, No Travel' policy, set to take effect in August. Dawaton noted that this will be implemented in phases, with the current effort being the first. LTO Dagupan has coordinated with local government units and tricycle franchising offices to assist with information dissemination.

Tricycle Drivers and Operators Associations in the city have also been advised to consolidate their members' documents for bulk processing, allowing operators to later claim plates directly from the LTO office.
