LTO Probes Driver Who Rammed Multiple Motorcycles in Quezon City; 1 Dead

Quezon: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is investigating a Utility Vehicle (UV) Express driver who rammed several motorcycles along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

According to Philippines News Agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao assured in a statement that the Intelligence and Investigation Division will focus on the probe. The incident involved a 51-year-old driver, identified as Ruel Dela Cerna, who was driving a UV Express when he rammed multiple motorcycles along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay UP Campus, near the central office of the Commission on Human Rights.

Dela Cerna was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD)-Traffic Sector. LTO personnel administered sobriety and alcohol breath analyzer tests on the driver. Despite the negative results, Lacanilao mentioned that the driver would also undergo a drug test.

One rider died in the incident, according to reports quoting QCPD Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio. Initial information released indicated that 13 motorcycles and a car were rammed by the UV Express.
