Allacapan: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Monday that it has summoned the vlogger, driver, and registered owner of a sports utility vehicle involved in a prank that resulted in a gas station attendant chasing after them.
According to Philippines News Agency, the video shows the vlogger laughing and instructing the driver to leave the gas station without paying for their fuel, prompting the attendant to pursue them on foot. LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao stated that a show cause order (SCO) has been issued to all three individuals involved in the incident along Maharlika Highway in Allacapan, Cagayan.
The LTO has temporarily suspended the driver's license for 90 days and placed the vehicle under alarm while the investigation is ongoing. Lacanilao remarked that the individual who recorded the video was inside the vehicle during the incident and instructed the driver to continue driving while the attendant chased them under extreme heat.
The LTO has demanded that the individuals involved explain why they should not face administrative sanctions for reckless driving and being deemed improper persons to operate a motor vehicle. The administrative violations could lead to license suspensions ranging from three months to a year or even permanent revocation.
Lacanilao emphasized that using such pranks or content is unacceptable as it endangers others, especially amid rising fuel prices. He stated that this behavior is irresponsible and demonstrates a lack of empathy, asserting that such actions have no place on the road.
The original video was posted on the Facebook page of former Allacapan Mayor Harry Florida but has since been removed.
