Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has announced the seizure of PHP2.5 billion worth of illegal drugs as of April 2026. Legal actions have been initiated with six criminal cases filed related to dangerous drugs from January 2026 to April 2026 before the Department of Justice.
According to Philippines News Agency, the BOC reported the turnover of PHP30.780 million worth of ketamine to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). This followed an interception at the Port of Clark in late March 2026, after receiving derogatory information from PDEA, highlighting the effective intelligence sharing between the two agencies. The shipment was flagged for physical examination, and X-ray inspection revealed suspicious images which led to a more thorough examination.
A PDEA K-9 sniff test indicated the presence of suspicious content, resulting in the discovery of six transparent plastic pouches containing a white crystalline substance. This was later confirmed to be ketamine, weighing 6,156 grams, concealed within a spool and wrapped with cable wires. A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and Republic Act 9165.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the PDEA-Airport Interdiction Unit and the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs. It supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s agenda of securing borders and protecting communities from narcotics.
