Naga city: The Land Transportation Office in Bicol (LTO-5) has commenced the distribution of approximately 200,000 vehicle license plates within the region, as part of an initiative to address the ongoing backlog of plates.
According to Philippines News Agency, the focus of this distribution effort is on releasing backlog plates for vehicles registered in 2017 and earlier, specifically targeting green plates and seven-character license plates. This move aligns with the agency's broader mission to resolve plate backlogs nationwide, as detailed by LTO Bicol Regional Director Allan Castillejos.
Jamie Rose Roperes, spokesperson for LTO Bicol, highlighted the intensified efforts in plate distribution, which include collaboration with local government units down to the barangay level to ensure the timely release of the plates. District offices are prepared to assist motorists in updating or claiming their vehicle license plates. Motorists are advised to bring necessary documents such as the Original Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration (OR/CR), a valid ID, an authorization letter, and the valid ID of the owner, if represented by someone else. For second owners, a Deed of Sale is required.
Additionally, roadside checkpoints have been established to verify whether vehicles have updated plates. On-site LTO teams are also available to facilitate the claiming process for those without plates.
