LTO Warns Dealerships Against Noncompliance with Registration Requirements

Manila: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a stern warning to accredited car and motorcycle dealerships, emphasizing that any failure to comply with document processing requirements could lead to suspension or closure.

According to Philippines News Agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao stated that it is the responsibility of each accredited dealer to ensure that all necessary documents for the registration of new vehicles, including the Official Receipt (OR), Certificate of Registration (CR), and license plates, are complete, accurate, and submitted to LTO promptly. Lacanilao stressed that the negligence or noncompliance of dealers should not adversely affect motorists.

Lacanilao further cautioned that dealerships found repeatedly violating established processes, submitting incomplete or incorrect documents, or causing unreasonable delays in the processing of OR, CR, and plates will face administrative sanctions. He emphasized that the LTO is prepared to impose appropriate penalties, including the suspension or closure of non-compliant dealerships.

The warning was delivered by Lacanilao during a two-day meeting with representatives of accredited car and motorcycle dealers held on July 20 and 21 at the LTO Central Office on East Avenue, Quezon City. The meeting provided a platform for dealers to voice their questions, suggestions, and concerns, which were addressed by clarifying existing policies and issuing necessary directives.

LTO Operations Division chief Kathleen Salayog, along with other LTO personnel, were also present to answer questions and provide clarifications during the meeting.
