Batangas: The magnitude 5.1 earthquake that jolted Batangas early Wednesday generated 14 aftershocks as of 6 a.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to Philippines News Agency, two of the aftershocks were plotted or located, and both had a magnitude of 1.2. The earthquake struck 2 km southwest of Calaca town at 12:43 a.m. Initially reported as a magnitude 4.8, Phivolcs later updated it to 5.1.
Intensity V was felt in Calaca, while Intensity IV was experienced in Alitagtag, Cuenca, Batangas, and the City of Tagaytay, Cavite. Several towns in Cavite and Laguna, as well as some areas in Metro Manila, also felt the earthquake. Phivolcs indicated that both aftershocks and damage are expected.
