Manila: The manhunt for fugitive businessman Charlie 'Atong' Ang and former presidential spokesperson and lawyer Harry Roque is ongoing, Interior Secretary Juanito Victor 'Jonvic' Remulla announced on Monday. In a press briefing, Remulla confirmed that Ang remains in the Philippines, accompanied by a small group.

According to Philippines News Agency, authorities recently had a sighting of Ang but failed to capture him. "There was an actionable report of an eyeball contact. That means he was seen in person," Remulla stated. "Immediately, we conducted follow-up operations. We were in a hurry. But, so far, the last report was that he was seen here in the Philippines," he added.

Courts in Laguna and Batangas have issued non-bailable warrants against Ang for kidnapping and serious illegal detention in connection to the disappearance of 34 cockfight enthusiasts. A reward of PHP20 million has been offered for his arrest.

Regarding Harry Roque, who is currently out of the country, Remulla emphasized that his close relationship with Roque will not interfere with the arrest. "Harry and I have a very close relationship, but I don't want to set aside my power, my responsibility as secretary, because of our friendship," he said. Roque is facing charges related to a human trafficking case linked to a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hub in Pampanga.

Remulla assured that necessary coordination with authorities will be made, and all proper procedures and methods will be followed to ensure Roque's arrest.
