Manila: The city government of Manila, in collaboration with the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) and the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), has issued a comprehensive list of road closures and alternative routes in preparation for the three-day protest rally of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), starting at 12 a.m. on Sunday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) announced via social media that key areas including Luneta Park, Chino Roces Bridge (Mendiola), Liwasang Bonifacio, and Ayala Bridge will be closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid these areas and take designated alternative routes to prevent travel disruptions.
For Luneta Park, the closures include both lanes of Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to P. Burgos Ave., sections of Roxas Blvd., Katigbak Drive, South Drive, Independence Road, and several other roads. The city has outlined specific re-routing plans for vehicles coming from and going to various locations.
Additional closures are set for Chino Roces Bridge (Mendiola), affecting stretches of C.M. Recto Ave. and Legarda St. Motorists are provided alternative routes to bypass these closures, ensuring smoother traffic flow.
Liwasang Bonifacio will also see the closure of Magallanes Drive, with specific detours advised for vehicles arriving from various directions. As for Ayala Bridge, the eastbound lane will be closed from San Marcelino St. to Romualdez St., with multiple alternative routes suggested for public use.
The INC has stated that the rally, named 'Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy,' is organized to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.
