Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has announced that the Philippine government is taking significant steps to enhance digital literacy programs and cybersecurity efforts. According to Philippines News Agency, the President shared these plans during a luncheon hosted by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines at the Diamond Hotel Philippines. Marcos emphasized the growing role of technology in daily life, noting how it exposes the youth to distorted information at a critical stage of their development.

"Innovation must continue, certainly, but so must responsibility that accompanies it," Marcos stated. He highlighted the government's commitment to expanding digital literacy initiatives, modernizing cybersecurity measures, and promoting the overall well-being of Filipinos while maintaining freedom of expression.

As a parent, Marcos expressed his increasing concern about the impact of social media and online platforms on young Filipinos. He underscored the government's dedication to ensuring that children can safely navigate digital environments.

The President also highlighted the importance of creating a secure online space where children can learn and grow without jeopardizing their well-being. He warned against the dangers of misinformation, which can lead to market instability, societal polarization, and weakened public discourse.
