Manila: Commuters will enjoy free rides at the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Lines 1 (LRT-1) and 2 (LRT-2) from April 30 to May 3 in celebration of Labor Day. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced this initiative, aiming to honor Filipino workers and facilitate easier commuting during the Labor Day holiday.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos stated that this gesture serves as a recognition of the sacrifices and contributions made by the workers to both the economy and society as a whole. In a video message shared on social media, he emphasized the importance of acknowledging the efforts of Filipino workers, saying, "Ito ay bilang kaunting pagkilala sa sakripisyo at ang kontribusyon ng ating mga manggagawa hindi lamang sa ating ekonomiya kundi sa ating lipunan."

May 1 is a regular holiday nationwide, designated for the celebration of Labor Day, which marks the annual observance of workers' vital contributions to the country.
