Marcos Congratulates Trump, Cites Enduring PH-US Ties

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended his congratulations to newly inaugurated United States (US) President Donald Trump following his return to office, emphasizing the strength of the Philippine-American alliance and its role in regional security.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos expressed his congratulations through a statement posted on social media, acknowledging the peaceful transfer of power in the US and showing eagerness to collaborate with Trump's administration. "Congratulations to POTUS @realdonaldtrump and to the American people on another peaceful transfer of power in their Nation's nearly 250-year history. I look forward to working closely with you and your Administration," Marcos stated.

Marcos highlighted the enduring alliance between the Philippines and the US, asserting its importance as a foundation for regional stability. "The strong and lasting PH-US alliance will continue to uphold our shared vision of prosperity and security in the region," he remarked.

The relationship between the Philippines and the United States has been long-standing, featuring numerous joint military, economic, and diplomatic initiatives. These efforts persist amid ongoing regional challenges, such as tensions in the South China Sea and broader Indo-Pacific security concerns. Trump's inauguration as the 47th US president comes after he secured a fresh mandate in the November 2024 elections.
