During the annual ceremony at Malaca±an Palace in Manila that honors outstanding government workers, Marcos highlighted that the nation's strength hinges on the integrity and dedication of its government employees.
According to Philippines News Agency, the President, through a speech delivered by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, expressed his belief that as long as there are public servants of such caliber, the Republic will remain steadfast. Marcos emphasized that public service transcends high-ranking positions, with every government employee capable of making meaningful contributions to the nation.
Offering gratitude on behalf of the Filipino people, Marcos commended the awardees for their loyalty, diligence, and compassion. He urged them to continue upholding the values of a 'Bagong Pilipino'-individuals who are disciplined, competent, and patriotic, committed to nation-building.
Marcos reiterated that the Republic's strength is not solely dependent on its leaders but also on the countless government employees who faithfully serve each day. He acknowledged their role as beacons of hope amid challenges, proving the existence of many dedicated employees within the government.
The awards celebrate exemplary public servants in three categories: Gawad Lingkod Bayan for programs with significant national impact; Gawad Dangal ng Bayan for adherence to ethical standards; and Gawad Pag-asa for innovative initiatives with lasting influence beyond individual agencies. Marcos cited examples of award-winning programs, such as livelihood projects for fisherfolk, revitalization efforts for the abaca industry, and the development of innovation centers to support local businesses.
Additionally, he praised initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and healthcare, including the provision of safety equipment for students during natural disasters and the improvement of healthcare services in remote areas. Marcos concluded by reaffirming the essential nature of public service to the nation's continued growth and stability.
