Roxas city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday led the oath-taking ceremony for over 8,500 newly promoted teachers and school heads from Western Visayas, marking the largest gathering under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System. The event took place at Villareal Stadium in Roxas City, Capiz, with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in attendance.

According to Philippines News Agency, this ceremony is part of a series of similar inductions previously held in Cebu, Davao, and Eastern Visayas. In his address, President Marcos assured educators of the government's continued support, highlighting efforts to enhance career growth, welfare, and working conditions. He emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring educators are well-supported, have opportunities for advancement, and are recognized for their service.

The President explained that the ECP system addresses the long-standing issue of limited promotion opportunities for teachers by providing clearer career pathways, whether in classroom instruction or school leadership. Since August 2025, a total of 79,230 teachers and school heads nationwide have been promoted under this system.

Marcos reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring no teacher retires at an entry-level rank. He also discussed reforms aimed at improving working conditions, such as reducing administrative workload, creating over 61,000 teaching positions, and implementing a PHP10,000 teaching allowance for the School Year 2025-2026. Additionally, the administration is expanding housing support programs for teachers.

In his speech, President Marcos expressed gratitude to educators, acknowledging them as essential contributors to nation-building.
