Phnom penh: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stated that the recent change in Senate leadership is an 'internal matter' and is unlikely to impede the administration's legislative priorities. Speaking to reporters in Cambodia, Marcos conveyed his confidence that the legislative agenda agreed upon by the executive and the legislature would proceed as planned.
According to Philippines News Agency, the President emphasized that the Senate is adept at organizing itself and expressed assurance that the chamber will continue to work on its agenda despite the leadership transition. He noted that even with Senator Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III reassuming the Senate presidency, the agenda agreed upon when Senator Francis 'Chiz' Escudero was Senate President would remain largely unchanged.
Senator Sotto's return to the Senate presidency on Monday evening marked the culmination of weeks of internal movement within the upper chamber. However, President Marcos reiterated his belief that this change would not significantly alter the legislative path set forth by the administration and the legislature.
