Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to enhance security measures and maintain vigilance nationwide during the holiday season. This directive aims to ensure public safety amid the increase in travel and public activities typical of this time of year.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos emphasized the importance of a "visible and reassuring" police presence in major roads, public spaces, transport hubs, and communities where families gather for Yuletide festivities. Speaking during the oathtaking ceremony of 50 PNP star-ranked officers at Malaca±an Palace, he highlighted the need for heightened security and vigilance.

Marcos called on police personnel to ensure the safety of every citizen, allowing everyone to enjoy the Christmas season with peace of mind and unity. He reminded the newly promoted officers that public service must continue even during celebratory times, underscoring the importance of serving with honor and acting in the best interest of the Filipino people.

The President congratulated the officers on their promotions and encouraged them to take pride in their achievements. He also acknowledged the importance of spending time with their families during the holiday season, while still fulfilling their duties.

Marcos reaffirmed his administration's support for the PNP, recognizing its critical role in maintaining peace and order, especially during periods of increased public activity. The PNP has already initiated security measures to ensure public safety during Christmas and New Year activities. Over 100,000 police personnel will be deployed nationwide as part of these annual holiday security operations.
