5,267 Solo Parents in Davao to Receive PHP1,000 Monthly Subsidy in 2025

Davao: The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office's (CSWDO) Family Welfare program has announced a PHP1,000 monthly subsidy for 5,267 single parents in the city in 2025, an official revealed.

According to Philippines News Agency, Julie Dayaday, head of the CSWDO, stated that the subsidy is being provided through a local executive order mandating that solo parents in the city receive a monthly cash allowance to supplement their income. Dayaday explained that ID cards have been issued to solo parents, enabling 5,267 of them to receive their monthly subsidy.

However, not all solo parents qualify for the subsidy. It is specifically intended for indigent solo parents who are either unemployed or minimum wage earners. To qualify, a single parent must reside in Davao City, hold a valid CSWDO Solo Parent ID, and be unemployed or earn a minimum daily wage, regardless of employment status.

Dayaday emphasized that only solo parents who are indigent and earn minimum wage are entitled to this subsidy. Furthermore, a designated social worker is required to evaluate the single parent and prepare a Social Case Study Report.

In addition to the subsidy, the CSWDO conducts trainings for solo parents on responsible parenthood, disaster management and preparedness, as well as seminars to remind parents of their responsibility to protect children from abuse. Referrals to livelihood programs are also offered to solo parents.
