MCIA’s Aircon System Full Restoration Likely by Jan. 8

Cebu: The full restoration of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport's (MCIA) air-conditioning system is expected by Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the MCIA reported on its social media page that both the primary operating units and backup units encountered technical issues, leading to a malfunction of the air-conditioning system. Inspections, troubleshooting, and parts replacement were immediately conducted to address the problem.

The statement noted that while the system was temporarily restored, the issue recurred and persisted throughout the day. In response, air coolers were placed around the airport, and staff distributed bottled water to passengers. The management also coordinated efforts with a third-party service provider to resolve the situation.

The airport acknowledged the inconvenience caused, particularly during the peak travel season, and the concerns raised by passengers, including feedback shared on social media. As part of the solution, additional air coolers have been deployed, and repairs on several units are currently underway.
