Makati city: Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has teamed up with Vietnam-headquartered V-Green Global Charging Station Development Corporation (V-Green) and Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (Green GSM) to develop electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure systems in Metro Manila and other major cities. Meralco, in a statement Wednesday, announced that the collaboration aims to identify and evaluate sites for EV charging stations and electric taxi hubs, support the efficient roll-out of charging networks, explore opportunities to scale up electric vehicle adoption, and engage in technical cooperation and knowledge exchange on EV technologies and system design.
According to Philippines News Agency, Meralco chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Manuel Pangilinan emphasized that the partnership leverages their joint strengths in infrastructure, technology, and experience to redefine urban and community spaces. He expressed commitment to building a future-ready ecosystem that is inclusive and service-oriented, aiming for Filipinos to experience advanced transport solutions not only in Metro Manila but throughout the archipelago.
V-Green CEO Nguyen Thanh Duong highlighted the significance of this collaboration as a milestone in V-Green's mission to accelerate the green mobility revolution in Southeast Asia. He noted that by merging their expertise in EV charging infrastructure with Meralco's robust local presence, the partnership aims to quickly establish a reliable and accessible charging network across the Philippines. Together with VinFast and Green GSM, the collaboration seeks to support the country's transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
