Misamis Oriental Airport Set for International Flights

Northern mindanao: Northern Mindanao's main public airport, now officially known as Laguindingan International Airport (LIA), is set to gain international status as part of its ongoing expansion and enhanced manpower services.

According to Philippines News Agency, Franz Jonathan De La Fuente, corporate communications and branding manager of Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) Inc., announced Wednesday that the airport officially adopted its new name when AIC began operations earlier this year. "The official name of LIA is ahead of the upcoming international flights (to be announced) soon," De La Fuente said.

Aboitiz InfraCapital Laguindingan Airport Corporation now manages the airport. It has also boosted its workforce by training and deploying staff through Xceptional International Services and Safety Corporation, an integrated facility management partner.

Meanwhile, LIA recently commended two housekeeping personnel for demonstrating exceptional integrity. In two separate incidents in June, the staff members returned more than PHP470,000 cash to their respective owners.

AIC president and chief executive officer Cosette Canilao underscored the importance of integrity, stating, "It's this shared commitment to our values that will guide us as we continue transforming Laguindingan."

In Northern Mindanao, LIA is a major economic project, complementing the ongoing construction of a new domestic airport in Don Carlos, Bukidnon, both part of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development's 2023-2028 agenda.
