La union: One person died and an estimated PHP16.5 million in damage was recorded after the combined effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) and Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay affected 10,131 families in La Union, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported. A total of 32,360 individuals across 212 barangays from 17 municipalities were impacted by the weather disturbances.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PDRRMO reported that 50 families, or 135 individuals, are staying inside evacuation centers in San Fernando City, San Juan, and Caba towns, while seven families, or 25 individuals, are staying outside evacuation centers. Flooding was reported in residential areas of Barangay Biday, San Fernando City, and in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Aringay (Purok 10, Housing).

Rain-induced landslides were reported as of 1 p.m. on Sunday in Bagulin town, particularly in Barangays Tio-angan, Baay, and Libbo. The PDRRMO also reported 19 lightly damaged houses in San Fernando City, San Juan, Agoo, Bauang, Caba, Naguilian, and Santo Tomas towns, and two extremely damaged houses in Bauang and Naguilian towns. A 45-year-old male who drowned along the irrigation canal of Barangay Rimos 1, Luna, was the lone casualty reported.

The partial cost of damage to agriculture was estimated at PHP12.9 million; infrastructure at PHP3.4 million; and agriculture livestock at PHP205,950. The provincial government of La Union and the local government units have already provided assistance worth PHP915,578.
