Bacolod: More Electric and Power Corp. has mobilized seven teams to expedite power restoration in Negros Occidental following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Tino.

According to Philippines News Agency, the first group of three teams was dispatched on November 7, followed by four additional teams on November 12, comprising a total of 37 personnel, to support Negros Power.

"We sent our line crews and engineers to Negros Power not only because it is our sister company, but because it is part of our culture as a distribution utility to bring light to communities in need," stated MORE Power Chief Operating Officer JM Zaporteza. The teams are equipped with essential service vehicles, including a boom truck, lift trucks, a pick-up, and an L300 van, and have been assigned to areas in the cities of Bago and Bacolod.

The power utility has also deployed its oil purification and regeneration machine to Negros Power. "The specialized equipment will be used at the Gonzaga Substation and other key sites to test power transformers while they remain online, ensuring continuous operations during the recovery phase," Zaporteza added. The restoration efforts are further supported by another sister company, Bohol Light, which has mobilized teams to aid power restoration across Central Negros.

Zaporteza noted that this is not the first instance of the power utility extending assistance. In 2021, following Typhoon Odette, teams were deployed to the Central Negros Electric Cooperative to assist in restoration efforts.
