Cagayan de oro: Most representatives from Northern Mindanao have voted for the re-election of Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez as House Speaker. In a statement Monday, the city's 1st District Rep. Lordan Suan said the decision to re-elect Romualdez aims to ensure the continuity of the legislative agenda in the 20th Congress, along with projects and programs that benefit constituents.
According to Philippines News Agency, Misamis Occidental's 1st District Rep. Jason Almonte and 2nd District Rep. Sancho Fernando Oaminal also supported Romualdez, along with Henry Oaminal Jr., representative of the Asenso Pinoy Party-list, all citing continuity as their reason. Even in the Bangsamoro region, Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Ziaur-Rahman Adiong expressed his support for Romualdez, highlighting the latter's steady and inclusive leadership during the 19th Congress.
Adiong further mentioned that Romualdez effectively guided the legislative branch through significant challenges, delivering timely and responsive measures for the Filipino people. At the House of Representatives, 269 members voted for Romualdez as House Speaker, while 34 abstained.
