Manila: Although Tropical Storm Crising is now far from the Philippines, it continues to amplify the southwest monsoon or 'habagat', resulting in stormy weather across Mega Manila on Monday. In response to the adverse weather conditions, the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) decided to postpone its scheduled tripleheader at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
According to Philippines News Agency, the MPBL emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of everyone involved in the regional league amidst the heavy rains. The planned games included Imus facing off against Pangasinan, Davao Occidental taking on Abra, and Batangas City hosting Mindoro.
The MPBL intends to reschedule the games before the end of the regular season, as the matchups are critical for the six teams involved, who are all competing in the playoff race. This rescheduling may also allow CJ Lane, the Rum Masters' recent recruit, to participate in the game against the Tamaraws if he is activated.
Batangas City previously announced the signing of Lane, a 6-foot-10 center, but he is currently attending to personal matters and is expected to join the team by August 10 at the earliest, as informed by a source to the Philippine News Agency.
