Ilocos sur: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured the public that passing through the Tucao Bridge in Alilem, Ilocos Sur is now safe since the bridge is now more sturdy.
According to Philippines News Agency, District Engineer Glenn Reyes of the Ilocos Sur Second District Engineering Office announced on Monday that the PHP11.41-million replacement bridge, located along the Alilem-Sugpon-Sudipen Road in Barangay Tucao, Alilem town, has been finished and has enhanced connectivity in the towns of Alilem, Sugpon, and Sudipen.
Reyes stated, "The newly replaced bridge is a two-lane, 12-meter flat slab structure supported by spread footing." He added that the bridge now offers a smoother, safer, and more efficient route for both residents and daily commuters.
The improvements have significantly reduced travel time in these areas, facilitating better access to trade centers, local markets, and tourist destinations such as the Baey Anito Falls.
The completion of the Tucao Bridge under the Marcos administration not only strengthens regional infrastructure but also promotes economic growth, the DPWH reported.
