MPBL Postpones Tripleheader at Orion Sports Complex Due to Inclement Weather

Bataan: The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) has postponed its scheduled tripleheader at the Orion Sports Complex as inclement weather is expected to persist on Wednesday. The decision to call off the games was announced on Tuesday, affecting fixtures that were significant for teams battling for improved playoff positions.

According to Philippines News Agency, the first game was set to feature Pampanga, aiming to secure a Top 4 spot in the North Division, against Bulacan. Bulacan recently achieved a notable upset victory over Caloocan in a July 14 game in Bataan. The second game was to see Bi±an face Pasay, a matchup between teams currently holding sixth place in their respective divisions. This game was particularly noteworthy as it would have marked new Tatak Gel acquisition Warren Bonifacio's debut against his former team.

The main event was scheduled to have the home team, the Risers, compete against the Val City Magic in a crucial game for securing a play-in spot. Bataan is one of 30 provinces where classes and government work have been suspended due to the adverse weather conditions brought about by the southwest monsoon, intensified by Tropical Depression Dante.

This marks the third consecutive instance this week where the regional league has been forced to cancel games due to weather issues. The MPBL plans to reschedule the Wednesday games before the regular season concludes. There is a possibility of resuming play on Thursday night with a tripleheader at the Olivarez College Coliseum in Para±aque, weather permitting.

As of the latest update, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), another professional league with a scheduled game on Wednesday night, has not yet released any advisories regarding Game 5 of the Philippine Cup Finals between TNT and San Miguel. The Beermen are aiming to conclude the series against the Tropang 5G and thwart their grand slam hopes.
