Naga: The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) has equipped the Naga City General Hospital (NCGH) in Camarines Sur province with 12 hemodialysis machines and a water treatment system to enhance treatment for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOH-5 Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio Albornoz announced that the medical equipment, valued at PHP14.5 million, was donated to the hospital. Albornoz emphasized that the new hemodialysis machines will improve treatment and management for CKD patients in Naga City and neighboring areas.

He further explained that the provision is part of a broader effort to address the healthcare needs of CKD patients and those at high risk for diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. The initiative supports the Universal Healthcare Act's goal of providing equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare for all Filipinos.

Dr. Joseph Sanchez, chief of the NCGH, expressed gratitude to the government and highlighted their joint commitment to expanding access to primary healthcare. He noted that the hemodialysis equipment marks a significant advancement toward improving patient outcomes and ensuring timely access to essential treatments for residents of Naga City and its vicinity.
