Manila: Temporary sleeping quarters have been established across all terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for passengers potentially affected by Severe Tropical Storm Opong, internationally known as Bualoi.
According to Philippines News Agency, several beds have been placed inside the terminals to ensure that stranded passengers remain comfortable while waiting. This initiative was confirmed by the airport operator, New NAIA Infra Corp., on Friday.
Further developments on Friday revealed that the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines recorded a total of 134 canceled flights, predominantly domestic, as a result of the storm's effects. In addition, low-cost airline Cebu Pacific announced the cancellation of an additional 46 domestic flights during the day, adding to the travel disruptions caused by the severe weather conditions.
