NAIA Operator Appoints Incheon Airport Veteran as New COO

Manila: The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) announced the appointment of Jong Hoon 'John' Kim, a seasoned professional from Incheon International Airport, as its new chief operating officer. Kim is set to oversee the daily operations of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), focusing on enhancing passenger flow, security, cargo operations, facilities management, and overall airport systems at the primary gateway of the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, Kim has had an extensive career at Incheon International Airport, where he most recently served as the director of airport security management. In this role, he spearheaded the implementation of biometric access control, artificial intelligence-assisted CCTV systems, and a comprehensive security inspection program. His experience includes managing operational readiness for Incheon's fourth-phase expansion, ensuring the seamless integration of new airport facilities.

Kim's expertise extends beyond security and operational readiness. He has been instrumental in developing cargo, logistics, and free trade zones. His previous roles include working on aviation safety standards at Airports Council International, serving as the director of operations and facilities management at Kuwait Airport Terminal 4, and acting as an operational readiness consultant for Erbil International Airport in Iraq.

NNIC General Manager Angerlito Alvarez highlighted the relevance of Kim's experience at Incheon to NAIA's ongoing improvements. Alvarez expressed confidence in Kim's ability to enhance the airport's systems, facilities, and overall passenger experience, aligning with NNIC's objective of bringing global airport operating standards to NAIA through its partnership with Incheon International Airport.
