VIP services protocols at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) - accorded to high-profile individuals and celebrities - have been revised to discourage misuse, the airport's new operator said Thursday. Revisions include higher fees and tailored packages for the assistance. Media reports said the new rates for VIP services now cost between PHP8,000 and PHP140,000, depending on the number of passengers. 'Our ultimate goal is to create a seamless and efficient airport experience where the need for VIP treatment, beyond what is necessary for dignitaries and those with critical functions, becomes unnecessary. We want every traveler to enjoy an effortless journey through NAIA, regardless of their status,' New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) said in a statement. Previously, VIP services, which include meet and greet, can be availed for PHP800 to PHP4,032. "For that amount, any passenger could bypass regular airport procedures. This not only created potential security vulnerabilities but also led to op erational inefficiencies and an unfair advantage for those who could afford to pay," the NNIC said. Non-passengers will no longer be allowed to avail of meet-and-greet services nor accompany departing VIPs. The Manila International Airport Authority used to handle VIP services but now these will be exclusively handled by the NNIC's VIP assistance personnel. The NNIC said VIP entourages would be limited to essential personnel to ensure efficient processing and reduce disruptions.
