Cavite City: The Naval Reserve Command (NRC) has announced the acquisition of new humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) equipment, donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
According to Philippines News Agency, the ceremonial handover took place at the NRC headquarters at Sangley Point, Cavite City. The event, held on April 22, marked the delivery of vital equipment including two rescue rubber boats with outboard motors, two diesel generators, handheld radios, life jackets, rescue buoys, and other essential HADR tools.
NRC commander Maj. Gen. Doroteo Jose Jalandoni extended a warm welcome to the delegation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which was represented by Elder Francis Soberano, Cavite Stake president. The ceremonial event also saw the presence of Marine Reservist Brig. Gen. Rodlyn Manzano, treasurer of the Philippine Marine Corps Foundation Inc. (PMCFI), who played a role in facilitating this initiative.
During the ceremony, Soberano emphasized the significance of the donations, stating that they would enhance the NRC's capacity to respond swiftly and effectively when disasters occur. He expressed that the donations serve as a symbol of ongoing friendship and a shared commitment to humanitarian service. Soberano also acknowledged the NRC as a vital partner in times of disaster.
Jalandoni, in his speech, expressed gratitude towards the religious group and PMCFI for what he described as 'God-given grace' donations. He highlighted the importance of these contributions not only in strengthening the reserve force and military but also in aiding communities. Jalandoni noted that the additional resources would make disaster response efforts more efficient.
