NBI Raid Yields P8-M Fake Baby Powder, Body Cleansers

Pasay city: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday announced the seizure of PHP8 million worth of fake baby powder and body cleanser products during a raid on a Pasay City establishment.

According to Philippines News Agency, NBI Director Jaime Santiago stated that units from the NBI-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) and the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) executed two search warrants against the establishment on July 3 for violating Republic Act 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

The raid led to the discovery and confiscation of 9,093 counterfeit items bearing the trademarks "Johnson's," "Johnson's Baby," "Aveeno," "Cetaphil," and "Cetaphil Gentle Clear." Johnson's and Aveeno are registered trademarks of Kenvue Inc., while Cetaphil is a registered trademark of Galderma Holdings SA.

The search warrants were issued following a complaint from Orion Support, Inc., representing Kenvue Inc., and Galderma Holdings. Santiago emphasized the importance of not supporting pirated products to protect intellectual property rights and promote economic growth.
