NCR Police Maintain Full Alert, Heightened Alert Implemented Nationwide

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday announced that the full alert status will continue for the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Crame-based offices, while the rest of the country transitions to a heightened alert following the peaceful conclusion of the three-day Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PNP decided to downgrade the alert status in all Police Regional Offices effective 12:01 a.m. on July 2. However, Metro Manila remains on the highest alert to ensure adequate security coverage. This strategic deployment allows police units nationwide to maintain necessary security measures while providing regular public safety services.

PNP Chief, Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., instructed all personnel to remain disciplined, impartial, and service-oriented. "The adjustment of our alert status reflects our continuing assessment of the situation while ensuring that appropriate security measures remain in place where they are needed most," he stated.

The INC rally began near the People Power Monument in Quezon City, causing disruptions during the morning rush hour. This situation prompted the PNP to elevate the NCRPO to full alert status. A total of 3,784 PNP personnel, along with partner agencies, are strategically deployed in key areas to support security, traffic management, and public safety operations.

The security operations align with the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations. The aim is to balance public safety and uphold constitutional rights.

"We continue to be vigilant to ensure everyone's safety. Our police officers are there to maintain order and ensure that legal activities are conducted properly," said Nartatez. He commended the officers for their professionalism and restraint during the rally, emphasizing their role in maintaining peace and coordinating with local authorities and event organizers.
