NCRPO on Full Alert for Mass Rallies Over Flood Control Projects

Manila: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday announced a full alert status in anticipation of potential demonstrations by groups addressing concerns over anomalous flood control projects. NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin communicated this update, stating that the full alert status began at 3 p.m. on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Maj. Gen. Aberin emphasized that his personnel are committed to observing maximum tolerance during the demonstrations while upholding the rule of law. He reiterated the constitutional right of Filipinos to assemble and express their views, urging that these activities be conducted peacefully and responsibly to avoid endangering public safety or disrupting community life.

Aberin assured that police units are fully prepared to protect both demonstrators and the general public. He outlined security measures designed to prevent incidents such as clashes, vandalism, and traffic disruptions, while also safeguarding the rights of all individuals involved. Aberin appealed to rally organizers and participants to conduct themselves with discipline and respect for the law.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o earlier announced the deployment of 2,500 police officers for the demonstrations. He noted that operations began at 6 a.m., with expectations of a meeting later in the afternoon at the EDSA Shrine and People Power Monument. The Police Regional Offices (PRO) 3 and 4A have also assured the public of their safety amidst reports of mass protests.

PRO 3 has implemented measures to maintain order while safeguarding public rights, instructing police to exercise maximum tolerance and follow proper protocol during public gatherings. Meanwhile, PRO-4A has coordinated with local government units in Calabarzon to ensure peace and order in the region, emphasizing their mission to maintain a safe and business-friendly environment.

PNP acting chief, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., confirmed that the police force is closely monitoring the security situation and stands ready to address any form of unrest.
