Bogo city: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced on Wednesday that it is validating reports of 26 fatalities and 147 injuries following a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Bogo City, Cebu, and surrounding provinces late Tuesday night.
According to Philippines News Agency, the NDRRMC's situational report released at 8 a.m. indicated that all reported casualties and injuries occurred in Region 7, also known as Central Visayas, and are currently undergoing verification.
The council also reported that classes have been suspended in 46 municipalities across Region 7. Additionally, work has been halted in four towns within the region as a precautionary measure.
As of the latest update, the NDRRMC has not yet provided information on the number of affected families or the extent of damage caused by the earthquake.
