NDRRMC Reports Sarangani Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 92

Sarangani: The number of deaths reported for the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that rocked Mindanao provinces on June 8 has climbed to 92, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the latest update marks an increase of four more fatalities compared to the 88 reported on July 1. Of the 92 deaths reported, only nine have been confirmed to be directly caused by the earthquake, all occurring in Region 11 (Davao). The remaining 83 fatalities are still undergoing validation or verification, with 12 in Region 11 and 71 in Region 12 (Soccsksargen).

The number of injured individuals remains at 1,316, and there are still 20 persons reported missing. The earthquake has affected a total of 391,231 families or 1,678,932 individuals residing in 625 villages across Regions 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), 11, 12, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Damaged houses were estimated at 113,370, with 94,988 classified as partially damaged and 18,382 as totally damaged, reported across Regions 9, 11, 12, and BARMM. The estimated infrastructure damage stands at PHP1.47 billion, while agricultural damage is estimated at PHP9.59 million.
