Daraga: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon on Tuesday vowed to complete construction of the two-lane Kilicao-Binitayan Bridge in Daraga, Albay, within two to three months. During his visit, Dizon expressed his disappointment when Albay Governor Noel Rosal showed the structure, which had been neglected for 15 years. He said the bridge should have been opened and used by residents and motorists.
According to Philippines News Agency, the people of Daraga have been relying on a one-way temporary bridge to cross between Barangays Kilicao and Binitayan. Secretary Dizon emphasized the importance of completing the bridge, highlighting the prolonged inconvenience faced by the local community. “The people of Daraga have been going through this for 15 years. Can you imagine, 15 years? The suffering of our countrymen and seeing something like this just standing there,” Dizon remarked.
Dizon assured the Governor that the construction would be completed in the promised timeframe, aiming to alleviate the long-standing transportation issues. Once the new bridge is constructed, it is expected to accommodate more motorists and improve traffic flow in the area, providing much-needed relief to the residents and daily commuters.
