Manila: A lone bettor from Negros Occidental became an instant multimillionaire after hitting Monday night's PHP15-million Megalotto 6/45 jackpot.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced on Tuesday that the winner purchased the ticket in Negros Occidental and correctly guessed the winning combination of 27-29-34-08-32-36. The fortunate bettor now has one year to claim the prize at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City.
Under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law, any lotto winnings exceeding PHP10,000 are subject to a 20-percent tax deduction. In addition to the jackpot winner, 11 other bettors won PHP109,090.90 each for matching five out of the six winning numbers. Furthermore, 644 participants will receive PHP1,708.07 each for guessing four correct digits, while 12,737 will get PHP30 each for matching three digits.
The 6/45 Megalotto is a regular draw conducted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles urged the public to continue supporting the agency's gaming products to generate additional revenue for health initiatives, medical services, and other national charities.
Through its mandatory contributions, the PCSO not only assists individuals in need of medical help but also provides financial support to government institutions.
