Negros oriental: Police in Negros Oriental arrested the province's Most Wanted Person (MWP) and two others from the fugitive list during enhanced operations over the weekend. Capt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, told the Philippine News Agency in an interview on Monday that the arrests were made on Sunday with court-issued warrants.

According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Timma Alam, the provincial police director, is prioritizing the arrest of wanted persons alongside intensified anti-illegal drug operations, after he formally assumed as officer-in-charge of the police in Negros Oriental. The first arrest during the weekend operations was of a suspect known as alias 'Tongtong,' a 36-year-old male resident of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. He is accused of rape and sexual assault, with bail set at PHP200,000 for his temporary release. He holds the title of the province's No. 1 MWP and is also ranked as the Negros Island Region's No. 3.

The arrest of alias 'Tongtong' was conducted in Barangay Ubos by officers from the Bayawan police and Bago City (Negros Occidental) Police Station. In addition to this arrest, the operations also led to the capture of the province's No. 3 and No. 7 MWPs in Bayawan City and Carcar City, Cebu, respectively. The No. 3 MWP was apprehended for attempted murder, with bail set at PHP 180,000. Meanwhile, the No. 7 MWP is facing charges for acts of lasciviousness, and bail for this suspect is set at PHP120,000.
