Manila: Island Garden City of Samal: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) officially opened its Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) satellite office at the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) City Hall, bringing social welfare services closer to Samale±os.
According to Philippines News Agency, the CIU office will provide assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, offering support for medical needs such as hospital bills, medicines, dialysis, medical procedures, therapy, and laboratory tests. The office will also provide burial assistance in accordance with agency guidelines.
Residents of the island seeking financial aid and other crisis intervention services will no longer need to travel to Davao City. This new office reduces transportation costs, saves time, and makes the process more convenient for families in need.
'DSWD-11 can now provide faster and easier assistance to people in crisis. This step strengthens the department's goal to respond better to the social welfare needs of the community,' the agency said.
