San Fernando City: Proactive and responsive law enforcement and advanced technology will mark the new leadership of the Police Regional Office-Ilocos (PRO-1) in line with the thrust to establish community presence. "No more delayed action. No more excuses. When someone calls for help, we arrive, we respond, we resolve," newly installed PRO-1 Acting Director Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes said during the turnover of command ceremony at Camp Brig. Gen. Oscar Florendo.
According to Philippines News Agency, Reyes emphasized that the 911 command centers will be reinforced in urban areas, mobile patrol coverage will be expanded, and stricter response monitoring mechanisms will be implemented. He addressed officers, stating, "To every officer, hindi po tayo mga pulis na puro cellphone sa duty. Tayo po ay pulis na dapat nararamdaman sa oras ng pangangailangan," stressing the importance of their presence in times of need.
Reyes outlined his approach to the fight against illegal drugs, targeting both supply chains and protectors with intelligence-driven, coordinated, and relentless enforcement. He highlighted that intensified operations against all forms of criminality would be prioritized, with a focus on arresting the most wanted persons as a performance measure.
Reyes also announced that information and communication technology advancements and full digitization of operations in PRO-1 would be prioritized. "Crime analytics will guide deployment. Case tracking will be automated. Internal processes will be digitized for speed, accuracy, and transparency. Modern policing requires modern tools. We will equip our officers not just with weapons-but with data, connectivity, and innovation," he stated.
He vowed to reward outstanding performers and discipline erring personnel, underscoring the need for officers to be ready to serve 24/7, be approachable, helpful, honest, clean, and dependable. Reyes is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy 'Patnubay' Class of 1995 and was the director of the Retirement and Benefits Administration Service prior to his designation to PRO-1, replacing Brig. Gen. Lou Evangelista, who served for 18 months.
