New MRT-3 Chief Inspects All Train Stations on First Day

Manila: Metro Rail Transit Line 3 General Manager Michael Capati inspected all stations of the rail service on Tuesday, marking his first day as the returning chief of the MRT-3.

According to Philippines News Agency, the inspection was concentrated on evaluating the condition of all facilities, including essential elements like escalators, elevators, and comfort rooms.

Capati's visit also included a stop at the footbridge at Taft Avenue Station, which had recently undergone a clearing operation to remove ambulant vendors who were obstructing passenger pathways. This initiative underscores the MRT-3's ongoing efforts to improve commuter access and safety.

The MRT-3 chief emphasized the importance of understanding the ground-level situation to formulate effective solutions for passenger-related issues. He urged MRT-3 passengers to communicate any concerns directly to their office, reinforcing the commitment to address commuter needs.

"Sa ganitong paraan po, matitiyak natin na natutugunan natin ang pangangailangan ng ating mga pasahero. Ito po ang kabilin-bilinan ng ating Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon," Capati stated, highlighting the directive from DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon to prioritize passenger requirements.

Capati's appointment was officiated by Secretary Dizon on Monday, following his appointment by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on March 26. With a history of serving as the MRT-3's director for operations since 2017, Capati also previously held the position of MRT-3 chief in 2022.
