Sibalom: The fully operational pumping station of the Sibalom Water District (SWD) in the municipality of Sibalom has significantly enhanced its capacity to serve its existing 4,000 consumers while preparing for an additional 2,000 new connections.
According to Philippines News Agency, the new pumping station in Poblacion District 4, completed in August last year and energized last month, can generate 1,500 cubic meters of water per day. This increase in capacity is sufficient to accommodate the anticipated 2,000 additional connections, ensuring that the town's water supply needs are met.
The SWD operates five other pumping stations located in barangays Nagdayao, Durog, Solong, Panlagangan, and Poblacion District 1, collectively providing 200,000 cubic meters of water daily. SWD General Manager, Engr. Jonathan de Gracia, stated in an interview that both households and commercial establishments are no longer facing water shortages.
"We can now assure the households and commercial establishments that we can provide them with sufficient water," de Gracia said. The expansion allows at least 2,000 more households and commercial establishments in barangays Bari, Alangan, Bongsod, and Cubay, along with the town proper, to apply for water connections.
"We are, in fact, accepting applications for water connections. Those interested to apply for their water connection may secure an application form at the SWD," de Gracia added.
