New Trump Administration Shuts Down Border App

Washington: The new US administration under Donald Trump shut down on Monday a mobile app for migrants to make appointments at the US-Mexico border. "Effective January 20, 2025, the functionalities of CBP OneS that previously allowed undocumented aliens to submit advance information and schedule appointments at eight southwest border ports of entry is no longer available, and existing appointments have been cancelled," according to a notice on the Customs and Border Protection website.

According to Philippines News Agency, the app grants migrants access to a variety of services, including checking border wait times and applying for a provisional I-94 entry, among other features. The shutdown, which coincided with Trump's inauguration day, is part of a series of moves aiming to address migration at the border.

In remarks at the Capitol Rotunda, Trump announced his intention to sign executive orders focusing on migration issues, an emergency declaration along the US-Mexican border, and immigration operations across the country. Trump is expected to sign 10 executive orders related to the border.
