New Water Interceptor Aims to Solve Malolos Crisis

Malolos: The ongoing construction of a water impounding system, or water interceptor, along the right side of McArthur Highway in Barangay Dakila, is expected to address the worsening water crisis in Malolos City.

According to Philippines News Agency, Malolos City Mayor Christian D. Natividad revealed that the 3-kilometer project along McArthur Highway was initiated by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara and is being continued by the new District Engineer Brice Ericson Hernandez.

'Mayor Natividad and I thought of that project as a response to the water crisis that Malolenyos are currently experiencing,' Alcantara mentioned in a text message.

The mayor further disclosed plans for additional water impounding facilities in the city, aiming to alleviate the water shortage faced by residents. Once the water interceptor along McArthur Highway is completed by the DPWH, a memorandum of agreement will be established with the local water district for the utilization of water from the impounding facility.

Natividad explained that the collected water would be processed through a treatment facility for distribution to households, as well as private and public offices via the local water district.
