NGCP Reports Higher Transmission Rate for July 2025

Manila: Upticks in ancillary services (AS) rates for July primarily drove the higher transmission rates for this month, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said Monday. Julius Datingaling, NGCP business and regulatory development head, highlighted that AS rates, which are the pass-through costs for power supplied by AS providers, rose by 9.32 percent from PHP0.56/kilowatt hour (kWh) for the supply provided last May to PHP0.6182/kWh the following month, reflecting on the July billing of consumers.

According to Philippines News Agency, overall equivalent average transmission rates for the billing period last June increased by 5.49 percent to PHP1.2113/kWh, from PHP1.1482/kWh in the previous month. For the July 2025 electric bill of the end consumers, NGCP charges only PHP0.46/kWh for the delivery of its services.

Aside from the AS, NGCP's transmission wheeling rates, which NGCP charges for its primary service of delivering power, also increased. Data released by NGCP on Monday showed that transmission wheeling rates inched up by 0.39 percent last June to PHP0.4611/kWh from PHP0.4593/kWh in the previous month.

Meanwhile, Datingaling noted that NGCP will implement starting August this year the decision from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) that allows NGCP to collect PHP28.28 billion worth of under recovery from consumers. "We will implement the decision of the ERC for the cost recovery this coming July 2025.The impact on the consumers will be in August," he stated. ERC has allowed NGCP to collect within a seven-year period the under recovery after the latter completed its fourth recovery reset.
