Manila: A transmission line catering to Negros Oriental has been restored, but five others remain unavailable due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi), according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
According to Philippines News Agency, in an advisory, NGCP announced that the Amlan-Siaton 69kV Line, which serves the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative, was restored at approximately 11:47 a.m. on Friday. However, several other lines continue to face disruptions. These include the Calbayog-Allen 69kV Line, supplying the Northern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Norsamelco) and the Samar 1 Electric Cooperative (SAMELCO I); the Paranas-Quinapondan 69kV Line serving the Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative Inc. (ESAMELCO); and the Calbayog-Bliss 69kV Line for SAMELCO I.
Additionally, the Nabas-Siaton 69kV Line, which provides power to the Antique Electric Cooperative (ANTECO), and the Nabas-Sapian 69kV Line, servicing Aklan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AKELCO), are still down. NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is actively conducting patrols to inspect and assess the storm's impact on its operations and facilities. Simultaneous restoration efforts are underway in areas already accessible.
NGCP clarified that power loss could be attributed to affected transmission facilities of NGCP or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives. Specific cities and municipalities impacted by power interruptions are determined by the respective Distribution Utilities, unless the outage affects the entire franchise area.
