NGCP Schedules 12-Hour Power Outage in Negros Oriental for System Upgrades

Dumaguete: The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) continues to upgrade its power lines in Negros Oriental to ensure a sturdier, more reliable electricity supply, an official said Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Michelle Visera of NGCP-Visayas stated in an interview that a 12-hour power outage is scheduled for Sunday to facilitate preventive maintenance and pole replacements in areas served by the Amlan-Siaton 69 kilovolt (kV) line. Several areas served by the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (NORECO II), which is powered by this transmission line, will experience a power outage from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Visera emphasized that the upgrades will further ensure power stability and the reliability of the structure. Earlier, the NGCP had scheduled four successive Sundays of power outages for upgrading the specific transmission line, she noted.

The power outage will affect areas serviced by the Bagacay (Dumaguete), Dauin, and Siaton town sub-stations. A significant part of Dumaguete City, along with some areas in Bacong, Dauin, Zamboanguita, and Siaton, will also experience power outages during the day.
