Nitura Powers Lady Knights to 7th Straight Win in NCAA Volleyball

Manila: Letran extended its unbeaten run to seven after sweeping San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 26-24, 25-22, 25-17, in the NCAA Season 101 women's volleyball tournament at San Andres Sports Complex on Sunday evening. According to Philippines News Agency, Judiel Nitura delivered 19 points built on 16 attacks, two aces, and a block as the Lady Knights lead Group B while the Lady Stags slipped to 2-6 in Group A.

"We should elevate something more. This doesn't end here. We always think back to zero. We don't think about our standings because we shouldn't. We should just focus and be patient, especially with the training and system of our coaches," Nitura said. "We think, as a team, we can be champions. Maybe because of our confidence, we won't accept that we won't win the championship because we've been down several times."

Gia Maquilang chipped in 11 points, Sheena Vanessa Sarie scored eight points, and Natalie Estreller had 20 excellent sets for Letran, last season's runner-up to the four-peat champion College of Saint Benilde. Kristine Dionisio led the Lady Stags with 10 points, followed by Cristina Marasigan with nine and Juna May Gonzales with seven.

Meanwhile, Mapua University defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-23, 17-25, 28-26, 25-23. Alexander Leabres and Raissa Ricablanca scored 22 and 15 points, respectively, to raise the Lady Cardinals to 3-4 in Group A. Mae Angelica Pasaol scored 16, while Alessandra Razonable and Ashley Toriado contributed 15 points each for the Lady Generals, who remained winless after eight outings in Group B.
